Macau 2014; Explore the food & places in Macau Peninsula!

4:40 PM

Yesh, finally complete the first blogpost of my recent trip to Hong Kong and Macau. I will skip the introduction and straight to the content! Have been planning this trip like 5 months and finally we are done with our internship and here we go!

We decided to had our first stop at Macau. We bought flight tickets to Macau and we stay there for 2 nights. Then only we headed to Hong Kong after that. Our flight was 6.00am in the morning, so we spent one night in the new KLIA 2. We just randomly walk around and explore the airport to waste our time lol. And there are so many restaurants open 24 hours and we settled down at Coffee Bean because the cushion chair is very comfortable haha.

My new purchase - New Balance! Nice or not?! It costs me 300 bucks lol...

Girls' travel! Me, XiaoYen, and Wantheng!

We reach Macau around 10.30am morning, and thanks god we didn't have any jet lag because the time in Macau & Hong Kong is the same with Malaysia! Considered that we had our big luggage with us, we decided to catch a cab to our hotel instead of public bus. The rate is quite reasonable and acceptable. We booked our 2 nights stay at The Regency Hotel. You guys can online check out this hotel, although the rate is quite acceptable but I will not recommend you guys to stay. Few statements below that I sum up after my travel experience in Macau.

Pros:-
1.) The Regency Hotel is located at Taipa, which I think the location is pretty nice and convenient if you want to explore more at Taipa and Cotai Island.
2.) There's bus stop just in front of the Hotel, and you can always hop on the public bus to any places you like in Macau.
Cons:-
1.) If you want to explore more the Macau City in Macau Peninsula, then you have to cross over the bridge from Taipa to Macau City. It might be not convenient because it might too far to your hotel after your visit in Macau City. Public bus operate till 12.00am midnight, and if you miss the bus, the cab might cost you a bomb during night time.
2.) The hotel only provided free shuttle from Macau Ferry Terminal and to few hotels in Macau City, which need a walking distance to the places you want to visit. It doesn't provide free shuttle to hotel in Taipa.

In a nutshell, I will recommend you all to stay at hotel located in Taipa, because I love Taipa more than Macau Peninsula. (Why? Check out my next post about Taipa!) And I will recommend you guys to stay at Hard Rock or Venetian Resort or the hotels around that area. Although the hotel rate is very high and expensive but they provide free shuttle to quite number of places. And that's really convenient for us. In additional, there also got many things to explore, and you no need to rush back your hotel before midnight.

We check-in hotel about 11am something (luckily got empty room so we get to check-in early!) and we quickly settled down and had a quick bath before we headed out to explore the Macau City in Macau Peninsula.

In our hotel's shuttle bus to Macau Peninsula.

We had the famous Portuguese tarts as our brunch at Margaret cafe. It is quite hard to find because it located inside narrow streets between buildings. You can ask the direction from the local. There was a long line of tourists queuing up for this. Seriously I don't think this Portuguese tarts made by Margaret Cafe are nice. This are so overrated. I felt greasy after two bites because its too oily, like too much milk and butter taste and I can't even finish one by myself lol. And one of their worker is very rude. It doesn't deserve my second chance and visit. You guys can try once but I advise you all it's really not nice lol, compared to Lord Stew's Portuguese Tart. (check out my next Macau post about it!)

Then we headed 义顺牛奶 for some dessert, as many people highly recommended their pudding in Macau.

The menu and prices. Quite expensive though.

We ordered the Original Milk Pudding (Hot), and Ginger Milk Pudding (Hot). I prefer the ginger one, taste very special and nice too. There's also a sea full of people in the restaurants, but don't worry they have 3 floors to dine in.

After fill up our stomach, we went to Senado Square. You know you reach your destination when you saw the fountain.

 Tourist's shot!

Walk further, you will saw the Cathedral Church.

Its so many things to explore around Senado Square, and we just explore and walking around with no destination and we found this beautiful Church.

Only Christian can go in. Too bad! I can't take pretty photos of myself inside lol.

Walking around all the narrow streets within buildings and we found out this street is full of food stalls.

Pepper biscuits, curry beef and meatballs, pork bun etc.
We didn't try any of them cause we were very full (because of the tarts lol).

Then follow the people, you will reach a very narrow street and you will see the Ruins of St. Paul is just right in front you.

 The Ruins of St. Paul.

Typical tourist's shot!

Beautiful retro building.

Sea full of people. Scary lol.

Because taking photo in front of it is too mainstream haha. This is the only group photo we took.

Another angle of the Ruins of St. Paul.

When sun goes down, all lights up!

Had our dinner at Wong Chi Kei restaurants. Don't come when lunch time, it got a horrible sea full of people waiting and you will starve until you can't walk, and still its not your turn to dine in yet.

Very small space inside. They have second floor and basement to dine in, so don't worry lol.

We ordered their porridge and wan tan mee. Taste quite nice, so it deserves my second visit!

We headed to Fisherman's Wharf after our dinner. At first we want to visit here in evening. The scenery will be more pretty and breathtaking in evening. But because of time constraint, we have to visit here at night. I recommend you guys to come when evening or morning, and here have many things to explore also!

Another beautiful retro buildings. It looks like the Colosseum in Italy right?!

Okay, a very weird pose! haha!

Normal tourist's shot is still a must!

Fisherman's Wharf located somewhere near the Macau Ferry Terminal. Many hotel provide free shuttle bus from the ferry terminal to the hotel. But too bad our hotel last shuttle bus service is 8pm, and we had to catch up public bus back to our hotel before 12 midnight. I think the Macau city will be more liven up after 12 midnight, don't you think so?! Okay, that's pretty much sum up my first day of the trip in Macau. Next post will be more about Taipa Island, which had become one of my favorite place from now on. Oh ya, a video about my full trip is in making process...I will put it here after I complete it. I am feeling excited again seeing all my videos lol!

See ya on next post! Love you all and bye! ;)
