Mirrors George Town, 2012!
3:35 AMHave you heard about the street art wall-painting?
The hottest topic recently happening in Penang???
Its Mirrors George Town of George Town Festival 2012!!!
" Mirrors George Town is a street art project created by international artist, Ernest Zacharevic for George Town Festival 2012. This project aims to create art that everyone can easily access and relate to; art that will blossom out of memories. Mirrors George Town seeks to draw attention to the people who live, work, and play in George Town; the inhabitants of the city that truly bring the unique buildings of this UNESCO World Heritage Site to life! "
#1 Armenian Street!
The most famous and cutest painting I like the most among all.
This painting had tapped deep into the minds of Penangite and visitors, provoking a fascinating and creative response. People take pictures of themselves chasing the children down the road, some go for a ride and some add some captions about their childhood memories. There's no fixed meaning; the artwork is open for interpretations, recreations and narratives. This is street art at its best, when it stops being an individual painting and becomes part of the public imagination.

#2 Next, Cannon Street!
Painter painted the mural over the course of one day!
What do you think the boy is reaching for? some delicacies or chocolates perhaps? :)
#3 After that, Ah Quee Street!
Painter painted this mural on the side of the building, to mark the occasion (Beach Street 212 warehouse) which was hosting Rescube, an exhibition by 6 young artists including Zacharevic.
The boy with a motorbike is a follow up. Unknown local artist joined in and painted a dinosaur nearby. Ernest answer was to paint a boy with a pink leash taking Dino for a walk. Unknown artist responded by painting a scared Dino hiding behind a corner. And this is how a legend was born!
#4 Don't miss out, the Chew Jetty!
A girl and a boy in a boat were encountered by the artist while travelling, to highlight how Penang has become the island of opportunities to so many people who came here looking for work, but have now found home.
Chew Jetty in itself is a beautiful place - arguably one of the most photogenic places in Penang. Explore, and walk till the end of the path to be stunned by a panaromic view of the mainland.
#5 The other side, Muntri Street in Love Lane!
High above the heat-filled street, the giant girl is playfully swinging while resting her arms on 2 windows. The painting turns the ultimate childhood dream into reality - to convert the city into a giant playground.

The last and biggest wall painting depicts the symbol of Penang - a trishaw!
Penang Road is famous for being a resting place for trishaw drivers, you can easily find one here and continue your journey on board of a colourful hybrid between a carriage and a bicycle!
Ernest Zacharevic hold a big bouquet of flowers!!
*just optical illusion btw..haha :)
Drawing process on last day.
How creative the arts are and are you amazed & inspired?!
But still, all the paintings will faded slowly day by day in the future.
So what's are you waiting for?! Come on and visit Penang!
Art is always a journey bridging gaps between distant places and drawing people closer.
Take a street art walk to discover the street art paintings in the unique setting of heritage street by yourself, and you'll found out a lot more excitements. :)
That's all for today! Have a great week ahead, goodnight!
P/S: Just because you haven't found your talent yet, it doesn't mean you don't have one. :)
